Project:
Currently, a large amount of data is available regarding the new SARS-CoV-2 virus, responsible for the current pandemic. The analysis of these data, open the possibility to describe aspects regarding the phylogenetic origin, relationship to possible natural reservoirs, proposition of viral epitopes for the rapid detection of the disease, as well as for the development of vaccines and identification of promising molecular targets applied to drug development.
One of the most promising fields to organize this large amount of biological data is bioinformatics, highlighting the genomics and structural bioinformatics fields. In this way, the main goal of this project is to carry out comparative analysis of SARS-CoV-2 genomes obtained in different parts of the world to trace evolutionary aspects of the virus and its implications in structural biology for the development of vaccines and new molecules with therapeutic action. OmicsBox will help us with the functional annotation of more than 2000 viral genomes of the whole Coronaviridae Family that have already been deposited on biological databases. This will help to screen for the best candidates for vaccine targets and medication.
This project is now supported with free access to all OmicsBox resources, including all modules and unlimited cloud computation.
